Vergecast: Microsoft to acquire Activision, Google building a headset, and the 5G battle with airlines

The Verge’s flagship podcast, The Vergecast is published every Friday. It features the top tech news stories of the week, including Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, a game publisher. The deal was worth $68.7 billion. Today’s Vergecast features Verge editor-in–chief Nilay Patel talking with Ash Parrish, senior reporter Alex Heath, and games reporter Alex Heath about the acquisition. They also discuss the issues surrounding Activision Blizzard’s culture and what this means to the future of the gaming industry.
The crew also discussed Alex’s scoop this week about Google building an AR headset internally codenamed Project Iris that it hopes will ship in 2024.
Later on the show, Verge policy Editor Russell Brandom joins the discussion to discuss the ongoing fight between the FAA and AT&T over activating 5G Towers around Airports. Also, the tech antitrust bills currently in Congress.
