No, iPhones aren’t more expensive than Android phones

Mr.Mikla/Shutterstock.comThere are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to the iPhone vs. Android debate. One myth that is still common is that iPhones are more expensive then Android devices. This myth is false. It goes beyond price. People believe that iPhones are more expensive because they are more expensive. All Android devices are lumped together and considered “cheap” by many. Android users sometimes believe this myth, refusing to buy the “overpriced iPhone”. It’s very similar the old Mac vs. PC debate. They exist in very different ecosystems. Apple typically releases two to three new iPhones per year, with one or two flagship models being the “high-end”. At the time of writing in early 2022, Apple offers eight iPhone models on its official website.Advertisement
Let’s look at it from the perspective of Samsung, Android’s closest competitor to Apple. Samsung offers over 30 Android phones on its official website. These phones range in price from very expensive to extremely affordable. This is the main problem with the price argument. There are simply more Android devices than iPhones. It’s like taking the four or five best-looking apples and comparing them to the entire stack of oranges.RELATED: What’s the Newest iPhone?Level the Playing FieldApple/SamsungLet’s take a realistic look at the price differences between iPhones and Android phones. Let’s stick to the comparison that makes most sense: iPhones vs Samsung Galaxy phones. Apple’s base model is $1,099 It comes with a 6.7-inch screen, 128GB storage, and three cameras at the back. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung’s top-of the-line phone, but it doesn’t have a foldable display. The base model is $1,199 from Samsung. The base model costs $1,199 from Samsung. The biggest difference is that the iPhone 13 Pro Max can store up to 1TB for $1,599 while the Galaxy S21 Ultra only has 256GB for $1.249. This is true across the board. The best Android devices are just as expensive as the most expensive iPhones. The Google Pixel 6 Pro starts at $900 for 128GB. This is $200 less than the iPhone 13 Pro Max base model, but it’s still not “cheap.” RELATED: 10 Things You Can Do With Your New iPhoneGood phones are good phones. Smartphones have settled into very similar pricing models. If one manufacturer raises prices, other manufacturers see it as an opportunity. It is more profitable for them to keep prices fairly even than to fight for the bottom line. It doesn’t matter whether there’s an Apple on it. It doesn’t matter if there’s an Apple on the back.
