Intel CPUs Get “Critical” Security Upgrades

Intel is about to disclose a security problem with some of its CPUs. The company has released “critical” microcode updates for its CPUs that address an undisclosed serious security problem. They are now rolling out to Linux systems and Windows updates will follow shortly. Intel will likely release more information soon, and microcode updates should be available on Windows Update shortly. The details of this security flaw are not yet public. Updates were found for Intel Whiskey Lake CPUs and Tiger Lake CPUs. However, there may be other processors affected. The two Phoronix discovered are all we know. We will have to wait until updates are released to the masses to discover which chips have the vulnerability. Your PC manufacturer may offer fixes, but Microsoft is likely to roll them out to all affected computers soon.
